DODGE
→ DODGEA mode that lightens the tones that are already light, and raises contrast.
DODGEDODGE divides the canvas colour by the inverse of the new one. The results are light, and they are lightened most where the canvas is already pale.
Measured: (100, 150, 200) over (200, 100, 50) gives (255, 243, 232) — close to white.
BURN is its opposite.
The name stays English. Dodge and burn are darkroom words: a hand held to keep light off the paper, or one that lets more through. No Setswana for either appears in any source consulted, and coining a word here would coin one a child will never hear anywhere else.
