PHAROLOGANO

→ DIFFERENCE

A mode that gives the difference between the two colours, never below zero.

PHAROLOGANO

PHAROLOGANO subtracts one channel from the other and takes the distance only — where the result would fall below zero it is turned back above it.

Measured: (100, 150, 200) over (200, 100, 50) gives (100, 50, 150) — |200−100|, |100−150|, |50−200|.

A colour drawn over itself gives black: the difference between a thing and itself is zero. White drawn over a colour returns its opposite.

EXCLUSION does the same thing more gently — differences in the middle of the range are flattened.
