HARD_LIGHT

→ HARD_LIGHT

`OVERLAY` turned round — the new colour is the one that decides.

HARD_LIGHT

HARD_LIGHT combines ATISA and SCREEN exactly as OVERLAY does, but what decides is the new colour you are drawing with, not the one already on the canvas. Where the new colour is dark, that part is darkened; where it is light, it is lightened.

Measured: (100, 150, 200) over (200, 100, 50) gives (157, 127, 166) — compare (188, 118, 79), which OVERLAY gives from the same numbers.

The name stays English, and it stays alongside SOFT_LIGHT: neither hard light nor soft light appears in any Setswana source consulted, and translating only one of the pair would split a family.
