HSL

→ HSL

The colour mode built from hue, saturation and lightness.

seeloSaMmala(HSL, 360, 100, 100)

HSL matches HSB in its first two numbers and differs in the third: lightness reads how close a colour is to white, rather than how brightly it shines.

The difference shows at the extremes: in HSB, full brightness and full saturation give a pure colour; in HSL, full lightness is always white, and the pure colour sits halfway, at 50.

Use HSL when you want a lighter or darker version of a colour — change only the lightness.

As with RGB and HSB, the name is left untranslated: it is a label the learner meets in the world, not a word to be translated.
